Autodesk ECAD/MCAD Toolchain Hub
Autodesk ECAD/MCAD Integrated Toolchain
Welcome to the central engineering documentation hub. This workspace outlines the data pipelines, file exchanges, and lifecycle workflows across our electrical design, mechanical design, and data management suites.
🔗 Connected Ecosystem Modules
Select a specialized module below to view detailed configuration steps, integration pathways, and data sync mechanics.
⚡ 1. Schematic Design & Cable Harnessing
- Core Focus: Schematic generation, component tagging, wire layer standards, and the live link to 3D mechanical models.
- Key Interconnect: Passes wire listings, terminal assignments, and from/to source designations directly to 3D models.
🎛️ 2. PCB Design & ECAD CoDesign
- Core Focus: Fusion Electronics, Autodesk EAGLE legacy systems, and external Altium Designer synchronization.
- Key Interconnect: Converts 2D PCB board layouts and schematic layers into precise 3D physical models for enclosure fitting.
⚙️ 3. 3D Modeling & Harness Routing
- Core Focus: Autodesk Inventor assembly design and the Cable & Harness environment.
- Key Interconnect: Consumes schematic wire lists to route physical wires through 3D spatial segments, calculating true physical lengths.
🗄️ 4. Data Management & Version Control
- Core Focus: Autodesk Vault Server (ADMS) and Client infrastructure administration.
- Key Interconnect: The single source of truth for check-in/check-out permissions, bill of materials (BOM) matching, and cross-department revision control.
🔁 The Master Data Pipeline
- Schematics & PCB: Electrical engineers draft wiring layouts in AutoCAD Electrical or spin boards in Altium/Fusion.
- Electromechanical Sync: Data flows natively via the Electromechanical Link (.EMX) or CoDesigner into Autodesk Inventor.
- Physical Routing: Mechanical designers route wires through 3D paths to finalize cable bundle physical traits and space utilization.
- Lifecycle Release: All assets (.dwg, .iam, .ipt, .pcbdoc) are checked into Autodesk Vault for structural release and procurement coordination.
