Autodesk Vault Server & Client Administration

Autodesk Vault Data Management System

Autodesk Vault acts as the centralized project file repository, ensuring engineers do not overwrite active designs or duplicate drawing files.

🖥️ Part A: Server-Side Deployment (ADMS)

The Autodesk Data Management Server (ADMS) handles the structural SQL database engine and physical master file stores.

1. System Requirements & Prerequisites

2. Installation and Console Setup

  1. Launch the ADMS installer file and choose the Vault Professional Server option.
  2. Allow the internal system pre-check utility to verify your local configuration profiles.
  3. Open the Autodesk Vault Server Console after installation completes.
  4. Right-click Vaults -> Select Create New Vault. Give it a clean naming convention (e.g., Engineering_Production).
  5. Set up routine, automated SQL backup configurations using standard Task Scheduler command scripts.

💻 Part B: Client-Side Environment Integration

Every engineering workstation requires local Client application software setups to bridge tool integration gaps.

1. Connection Configurations

  1. Launch the Vault Client desktop program.
  2. Enter the absolute Server IP address/hostname along with your designated SQL authentication credentials.
  3. Select your destination working folder (e.g., C:\Work\). This maps your local drive structure cleanly to the primary server workspace path.

2. Native Application Plug-In Verifications

Ensure cross-platform add-ins remain active within individual workspaces:
